Elements of the Writing Life: What every aspiring writer needs to know about style, substance, and starvation.
January 14 – February 4 Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm $30 for adults / $15 for high school students Limited to 15 participants
Class participants can expect to learn important elements of narrative writing, understanding the total publishing process, and will receive encouragement to do the hard work involved in achieving writing success. Instruction will include lecture, discussion, a short writing assignment, and class critique.
Week 1: Writing, the elements of success
Week 2: Writing, basic elements of narrative construction (how does the story flow?)
Week 3: Writing, basic elements of character and conflict development
Week 4: Writing, the peripherals: agents, book proposals, query letters, and other bothersome stuff
